Hi nirogina Well i don't know which airlines you have flown. generally all airlines have same rules about lost baggage. If they did not find your bag until 5 days they will send you a form by mail. you can request it by email or fax too. fill out honestly and gather receipt of those items as many as you can. If you do not have receipt don't worry.write a fair values. If they did not find at all they will pay for that bag. but it will take 3 to 4 months. If you travel international or at least 1 part international they will pay you maximum of 634 dollars per bag, if you fly domestic they eill pay you maxmium of 2800 dollars per person.
