Depending on your AGI (Adjusted Gross Income), a lot of tax software vendors offer free e-filing of your federal taxes. Some of them offer one state (Home State) free as well. Others charge for state (usually $12-15 per state). If you have AGI of about $36,000, you usually qualify for free efiling. The IRS website (above) provides the list of software vendors and the free filing deals they offer.
