Rana Bahadur Shah married a second wife from Kashi. The second wife was a bhichhu from Kashi and happened to be in Pashupati for some time. She was actually a widow. Rana Bahadur shah saw her, proposed her. She refused first, saying she would agree to it only if her first son would be made the crown prince. Rana agreed, and Girvanyudda, the son of the second wife, became the crown prince. All the sons of the first wife were chased away. Trailokya never became a king as he died before his father. Deepak Shah, not Dipendra, was the first son of Birendra. Diepndra never became a king in his life time. He was declared a king after his death by Gyanendra.
