Engineer doesn't mean one who engineered: en·gi·neer /ˌɛndʒəˈnɪər/ 1. a person trained and skilled in the design, construction, and use of engines or machines, or in any of various branches of engineering: a mechanical engineer; a civil engineer. With your point of view, engineer would be one who operates and engine too. Engineer, by profession, should be an exclusive profession..otherwise there is no point. It's like saying a literary doctor (with PHD) is same thing as a medical doctor.
