Overall the event was ok. Although there was plenty of food unlike in other events, the food stall was in total disarray. A president of Motherland who organized the event was in jeans and cowboy hat with macho demeanor to show off his newly acquired American attire. The presentation and message of loosely formed Nepalese organization called Motherland is amateurish and ambiguous at best. Nabin Bhattrai looked tired and worn-out when he took the stage. His CD was sold out and one last remaining CD was auctioned off at $85.00. There were people clamoring for more than $100. 120, 150 but the auctioneer couldn’t hear bids in a dimly lit huge hall. After having seen 1974, Raju Lama, Angel band and others I am ready for a change. I am long to hear the echoes of motherland that speaks to me in personal way like the songs of Narayan Gopal. The tune and rhythm that takes me back and reminds me of who I am, and where I am from.
