To ne nosy is just a NEPALIPAN. Few years back (still in remote areas) it used to be a farmalities to ask that kind of questions.That was the way to to start conversation and to show the interests towards you and be friendly. So basically we are from there. If your father comes here and meets other stranger he will definetly ask the same way that you were asked. You are just more influenced from the western civilization(lil bit me too). But I dont think there is something that you have to be rude or disappointed or something like that.
