well, ss74k, i know what you are saying. but we are not talking about the western culture impact on our kids. it depends upon how you raise them. if you raise them in nepal, does not always guarentee they will get the best from our own culture. i guess you can raise them anywhere in the world and still teach them good values. it all depends on you as a parent. i am more concerned about the langauge thing here. not that they cannot be taught both english and nepali if you raise your kids in US, but the chances of making them proficient in both is low, very low. i have observed a family here in my city. the couple has two kids, a 12 years old daughter and a 6 years old son. now the daughter did her primary education in nepal. i guess until she was 10, she was in nepal. then she came to US and within 2 years she has very well mastered the english (language and accent at her level). the boy on the other hand does not speak a word in nepali. he was born and is being raised here. i know keeping the kids away is a torture for parents, but to gain sth, you ought to lose something as right? and then its just a matter of few years (3-4). may be lesser in some case.
