The country is likely to be hit by a food shortage of 350,000 metric tonnes next year due to a poor harvest, authorities add. The donors have not pledged any such aid yet. Inadequate monsoon rains in parts of the Nepal and floods in some areas have affected the harvest in the country. Authorities say they are optimistic about securing aid to meet Nepal's food deficit. In this poor country, 85% of people depend on subsistence farming, mainly rice. Half the country's districts suffer a food deficit.
