Hyperthread, that in indeed the definition of flip_flop, but I happen to be a flip_flop from the world of electronics. It is a pulsed digital circuit capable of serving as a one bit memory. They can be of different types, such as D flip-flop, JK flip-flop, SR flip-flop, T flip-flop and so on. Hope it does help in understanding. :)
