While KU is discredited in the history of medicine and engineering in Nepal; the students who graduated from KU have managed to struggle on and achieve notable success. This is because, KU has attracted the top students in the country who also work hard because their parents have to pay exorbitant fees. What the KU products have managed to do is inspite of KU and not because of it. I have met KU products in Nepal and US and all have got to their positions because of their hard work. I have told them frankly they would have got further with TU. The faculty of medicine is headed by a narcotic old man Rana who has no clue about education. He is just a yes man of Suresh Raj. The faculty of engineering has no other than Bhola Thapa. Compare any private medical school or engineering school in Nepal to KU, you will see my point. Intermittently, brilliant staff have joined KU in both medicine and engineering because they thought KU would be the best place to work in Nepal. They soon find the malpractice of Dr. Rana, Dr. Ram Kantha, Dr. Nastu Sharma and others like them make it intolerable for them to work - ask Dr. Arjun Karki, Dr. Saroj Dhital, Dr. Sharad Onta, Dr. Shambhu Upadhya, Dr. Kedar Baral, Dr. Ganesh Dangal and others. I think good, hard working students succeed any where and this has been the case of KU. So, it is high time that old students of KU capture the banner from cronies like Suresh Raj, Sitaram, Ram Kantha, Nastu Sharma and make KU a public institution rather than the Dhulikhel Plc.
