SALARPUR, INDIA, June 19 - After a joint Nepal-India survey team revealed that lands under Nepali territory have been used by Indians for long, proceedings of the team were stalled recently.
According to a Nepali member of the team, over three bighas of land between the border pillar number 63 and 65 have been tilled by Indians for several years now.
"Land encroachment was facilitated as there has been no sign of border pillars," he said, requesting anonymity.
However, members of Indian team assert that this year's work was over, saying "It was difficult to solve the problem as Indians have been tilling the lands that fall in Nepali territory for many years."
Nepali team members also alleged their Indian counterparts of pressurizing to establish newly erected border pillars as "formal pillars".
Recently, Shahadat Dhobi, a Nepali landlord, registered a complaint at District Administration Office, saying that his over four bighas of land that falls between pillar 63 and 64, was seized by Indians three years ago.
