-many, i disagree 1. treaty of sughauli was for the best interest of nepal. by 1815, the armies of the east india company had reached makawanpur, just south of hetauda. now, if the treaty wasn't signed, nepal would have already become india now. bhimsen thapa saved 2/3 rd of nepal from the treaty. i don't see it as loss of 1/3 rd of the country. 2. King Mahendra is a world figure, perhaps one of the just a few of the nepalese. He is one of the first proponent of the non-alignment movement when the entire world was either with the soviet union or united states.
