If you have a UK visa, you can travel to England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland because those four constitute the United Kingdom. But you need a separate visa to travel to Ireland (Republic of Ireland), which got independence from UK in 1922 and is a different country. If you just have an Irish visa, you cannot visit Northern Ireland, Scotland, etc. as they are not a part of Ireland. I had to take a UK visa to travel to London. However, some people go to Northern Ireland without a UK visa from here because its on the same island. But it is illegal to do so and can be risky too.
