sabkobhalohos and Revival: While we cannot estimate what the cost of the entire treatment is going to amount to, we can definitely find out how much has incurred so far. Perhaps this will proffer the projected cost. We do not have that information yet because the hospital gives it out only to the immediate family members. We began this fundraiser with the premise that Pranav had very little time to live. So it was our utmost priority to bring his parents here before he passed away (God forbid). Our goal has changed since. Pranav received excellent medical treatment. He is also in the prayers of thousands from all over the world and he is getting better, but this past one month has been a roller coaster ride not only for Pranav but for his family as well. This is the reason why I haven’t pressed them to inquire about the costs. Now that things are seemingly calmer, I just asked Mama to talk to the hospital administration about his medical costs. I was told that Pranav’s insurance only covers the first $3000. I found that odd because most student health insurance does not cover the petty expenses but covers well for something of this magnitude. Personally, I am not too worried about the ICU costs because, frankly, I do not think the donations we have collected (and will collect) is even going to come close covering a tiny portion of the total cost. ICU cost is going to be in the couple of hundred thousand dollars range, if not more. As I see it, the fund should be used for Pranav’s treatment when he gets out of the ICU. The doctors have said that it is going to take him more than a year for full recovery and there are various costs associated with that including costs for his continued treatment, medicine, physical therapy and perhaps many more that I cannot think of right now. I think covering the ICU cost should be a secondary priority because its not like he is not going to get treatment if he doesn’t have enough money; whereas he will not get physical therapy and other services if he cannot pay for them. It is just a personal thought. To get back to the point, I should get a number from the hospital soon and I will be more than happy to share that will all of you who have shown such exemplary support for Pranav. Thank you.
