Nepal Police and army have never maintained friendly relationship with the public. They are paid by hard earned tax of common people but they always behaved like they are the masters of the people. Whenever and wherever they got chace, they have abashed people. Even they don't use respectful language with the public. I was in travel business in Kathmandu and due to security reasons, all travel and trekking agents are issued special entry pass to the airport. One day, one army man stopped me and asked my ID. I presented him and he asked me my ID number which I didn't remember by heart. So, he said, तँ जान पाऊन्नस्. I showed him a number of my other IDs, including my driving license, tax ID, my tour guide ID and so on but he he wouldn't let me go. After there was a huge line of traffic and all the cars behind me protested, he said", this time you can go but learn your ID number by heart". Another friend of mine was also stopped and when he argued he was warned "Stop your big mouth, the gun is loaded". This is the way they behave with the people. When we educated, Kathmandu residents can be abashed by such a minor sipahi, what could be the situation in the country side? People have to treat them as god.. So, the above picture of police DSP, sniffing the dusty ground is not a surprise for me. May be the individual DSP is not responsible, but its the retaliation of the people to the whole system and the whole mechanism is not responsible for that. When they got chance, they didn't even spared the leaders. Bam Dev Gautam-who has been Dy Priminister and Home minister was pointed gun by an ordinary Assistand Sub-Inspector in Dolakha. All leaders, including Girija Koirala have been the victim of laathi charge.
