nails, i remember reading this peom sometime back in highschool. the person in the poem kills the women, not becasue she could not be his (she has already submitted herself to him), but he wants to capture that moment of submission, that status quo till eternity. he does not want things to be any different than now that is why at the end he says "And thus we sit together now, And all night long we have not stirr'd".
