"As for the U.S being a beacon of diversity - what about the inner cities and Katrina?" If you had only two choices: where would you prefer to live: in a remote location in Nepal or in an American ghettos? The answer is obvious of course. America's inner cities might be bad in comparison to some places in America, but it is better than any places in an underdeveloped country by LEAPS AND BOUNDS. As to Katrina, remember the aftermath of the Tsunami in places like Indonesia and Thailand? Hundreds of thousands of people died. Katrina killed only a thousand. A big number, but compared to earthquakes in India or Iran, Tsunami in China, etc, the American government did a PRETTY GOOD JOB! " addition, let's not forget that there is still very much a culture of Institutionalized Racism against Immigrants and people of colour, so no, America is not a beacon of diversity as you seem to believe it is" Yes, if you always look at yourself as a victim, you're not gonna succeed in America. Compared to the 1960's, America is a much better place with much less racism. Listen buddy, your whole argument has a big hole through which I could drive a truck. America is a country founded by immigrants. While it's past is full of bloodshed, that episode belongs in the ash heap of history. America is a history of diversity. It is not a melting pot, but a salad bowl. People don't mix, but people are doing pretty good in America. Why do immigrants come to America in droves if there is nothing attractive about America?
