There is also a established Nepali non-profit in Los Angeles, C.A that has been doing extremely good work with the Nepali community there. The office is called Nepal Sewa Center. They at first started as a n all volunteer group about three years ago but in the last year, they have done such good work that they are now reciving funding from other organizations to help them expand services--all the services that they provide for the Nepali Community are completely free of charge with no strings attached. Nepal Sewa Center is like I said, a non-profit organization based in Artesia, Los Angeles. It is the first ever registered non-profit in the U.S, established to work with Nepalese set up and managed by first generation immigrant Nepalese. NSC also works with the immigrant Tibetan and Bhutanese populations in the following areas: * Arranging for Low cost or free immigration help * Arranging for and accompanying Nepalese to doctor's appointments * Securing health information for children from low income families * helping arriving Nepalese get their Social Security cards; open bank accounts; get apartments * Helping children get admission in schools * helping incomming unemployed Nepalese find employment If anyone needs help/information, fee free to contact Nepal Sewa Center: Phone: 562. 860. 7193; 562 645 1223 E-mail: nepalsewacenter@comcast.net
