I hate this thread... but wanted to clarify some of the misconceptions here. 90% of US male population get circumcised. circumcision is a sunnat (things taht are best done..but not mandatory) for muslims and christians, and mandatory for Jewish. Hindus don't quiet perform it...except for Nepalese boys born in U.S. (about 20%?). So here goes Some medical truth about circumcision.... Smegma (a natural substance composed of dead skin cells, normal flora, and secretions containing the natural antibacterial agent lysozyme) is more likely to accumulate when the foreskin is present. Medical grounds for circumcision that are most commonly cited are: Reduced risk of urinary tract infections (UTI); reduced risk of penile cancer; reduced risk of cervical cancer in partners; reduced risk of sexually transmitted disease (STD). Penile cancer is an extremely rare form of cancer. It occurs mostly in older men, and most doctors will not recommend infant circumcision as a preventative measure. And cervical cancer ahas connection with foreskin. And in US, children get teased in the common bathrooms in the school...if they r not circumcised.. so more and more nepalese parents are opting for this surgery as well. Hope this helps.
