Hang on folks..the bill that was passed was done so in the House...which means it still needs to pass the Senate before it becomes law. The deal with the Senate is that they are going to likely use this as a bargaining tool--they may allow the diversity lotto to die provided the Republicans give in to the long standing demand by Democrats to offer blanket amnesty to the illegal immigrants already in the U.S with a work history...this of course is speculation on my part...but, I doubt very much thata the Dems in the Senate are going to give in this easily. Hopefully, this is NOT the end of Immigrant friendly immigration initiatives by the hawkish Right Wingers.
