Sandhurst: I am across the pond you see, so sadly will have to miss the BBC Bard fest - and I am sure it will be a stupendous run. I live in the Pacific Northwest and Oregon has a very well put together annual Shakespear festival that starts around the 2nd of July and runs the entire month. It is held in this tiny place called Ashland which affords a hamlet like environment. The plays are a mix of high school and theatre company productions so it is a good mix. The same place is also host to a wicked music festival every year. They have the likes of Ben Harper, Leonard Cohen and Angelique Kidjo (brilliant singer/songwriter from Benin) perform in the past. ...I shall have to contend myself with Ashland for now, but will certainly snag the DVD versions of the Beeb series the minute they come out.
