iZen is right, not only GSM phone works in nepal but it has to be triband and unlocked. Only in America, the cell phone provider lock the phone to prevent from smuggling outside the USA and I am soo surprised that, USA is much more behind in cell phone technology compare to Europe and Eastern Asian countries like Japan, Korea and Singapore. Even in america, there are 3 types of cell phone, One is GSM( Tmobile, Cingular) and CDMA( Verizon) and Sprint (TDMA). So if any of you took the phone from Either Verizon or Sprint, it will not going to work since they do not have Sim Card and also if you are going to take GSM phone from either Tmobile store or Cingular store, their all the phone are locks. Most of the people who works in the cell phone, does not have that much idea about the unlocking phones so if any of you interested to buy the phone, you need to find the store that they cell unlocked phones(triband 800/900/1800 MHZ). USA is using 1800 MHZ and EUROPE are using 900 and i think most of the Asian countries on 800 MHZ so make sure, you buy the right cell phone and make sure the phone is unlocked one as well. hope this will help you Ocean
