The problem of caste system is entwined with the existence of monarchy. As long as there will be some people who enjoy special privileges they and their relatives will always feel and act superior to others. Hindu religion itself has less problems. I hear about many intercast marriages than back in the days. But this happens less in the shah/ rana communities. Another problem is the pundit bajes. These pundits are not what their ancestors used to be. Most of them have become bajes without understanding the meaning and significance of the mantras. So, something has to be done to get rid of this dakshina exchange tradition. In that sense, the practice of hindu religion is in need of revision if it is to survive for a long time. So, as long as monarchy and the fake pujaris exist so will the caste system.
