I say myth. Love is just love - neither true nor false. Love and it's associated emotion, attachment, are the causes not just of happiness but also of sorrow and suffering. A fellow Nepali figured it out all those thousands of years ago :) And we're all dust in the wind .... bricks in the wall .... sand on the beach ... drop in the glass ... man, it's time for a drink! :)
