I think both India and Japan deserve to be in the security council. India because of its rising influence in the world economy and also because of its mega population. It is only fair that a country with billion people need to be represented in a global committe of such import. Japan because of its existing and continuing influence in the world economy. Plus it is the largest foreign aid donor after the US. Though China and like minded nations disagree, pointing to Japan's war time attrocities, I think the world has moved on beyond those dark days of history.
