LONDON BLASTS!

It was so scary being at home all day. Throughout the morning and afternoon, televisions broadcast the traumatising aftermath of the attacks. Images of victims, rescue efforts, security and political maneuverings. A colleague from a different department of my workplace also gave a harrowing account of the blast that took place in the train he boarded, from the hospital bed . Everything suggested that London is in deep shock today, that people have been greatly affected by the terrorist attacks. In the late afternoon, I started for central London. The streets were not crowded, but the people were moving. Locals looked sad and grim, for others it seemed they cared little about what happened in the morning. Everybody were chatting almost normally. The only difference between yesterday and today was that I could see no couples hugging and kissing each others during the entire journey. Oh only few laughed open-heartedly. But then the pubs were open. They were almost full as usual. The parks and squares were, however, almost deserted. Cars and Buses speeded through the roads, relatively with ease because of the hollow traffic. My bus took me through one of the stations which was hit by the explosion. The area was cordoned but there was no sign of what happened underground. It went past the city centre leaving behind the palace, paraliament, Pime Mnisters office but there was hardly any hint that London had suffered the loss of 40 odd lives and 700 more injuries today morning. By the evening, London has almost come to terms. I got off from my bus and entered a grocery. There were staffs, white and black, asian and arab. A white lady served me with a smile on her face. I thought she is a human just like me , not a politician. The train service has already resumed from the station that saw the highest number of death tolls. All other tube stations are expected to resume their services from tomorrow. I am sure, I will see the rush, the laughing and swearing and kissing and hugging from tomorrow. Out of the 7 million Londeners less than 50 lost their lives, less than a thousand were injured. The memory will remain lasting for those who escaped death. But for others? This day will be forgotten soon. People will be drained in their daily living. Without getting on, how could they feed themselves? For some days, politicians, journalists, polices and terrorists leaders will have some fodder for themselves. After a month, everything forgotten. Madrid happened, London happened and there will be another in the line. This cycle goes and goes. ''So what?'', say Bush, Bin Laden, Blair, Zarqawi. Not to forget our own Gyanendra and Prachanda. Yes you have to face it more frequently. Terrorism and anti-terrorism doesn't affect you unless you die. Once you die, you are gone. So be prepared to die anyday. To fulfill the desires of Bush and Bin Laden. To fulfill the ambitions of Gyanendra and Prachanda. This is what power and politics means. Mankind! Be prepared for death in the hand of these unmasked and masked butchers.
