I can tell you that it is simply a waste of time and money as most of the info about music is found in the internet. Go to the following site: http://www.musictheory.net/legacy.html And start from the 'Major Scale'. You can completely ignore earlier chapters as I believe that learning music notations is a waste of time (though many would afgue that). Not that I dont know notations but my logic is that you dont have to write a piece of music on paper nowadays, u can record it in mp3. Also, d0nt jump into the so-called over-hyped chords (anyone's grandmother could show you a couple of d or c e minor or whatever chords). Know the scales and they are like knowing the alphabets and u can create your music. Also try singing (riyaaz) with the scale pattern and this should help develop your or your daughter's 'ear' as they say. Like I said earlier, go to the site and start from the 'major scale'.
