This particular case and I am sure and more others are explicitly bigoted in nature, but such incidents are ubiquitous up and down our ?cast? system. As you go up the ladder all the way to the kings family, the king has also been a ?national safeguard? a treasured sanctity in our socio-religious and political history that still persists, not as explicit but for a greater gain. The Brahmin guarding the temple does not gain anything but upholds the status, but the king amasses so much, remember the recent 70 times or so increase in royal budget and the Rolls Royce?s? We Nepali people have been the priests to the king and other Netaas all along. Although they seem different, the root cause is the same. First it was the Bhramin priests (originally from India) who made amends with the king (One of the Mallas) who let the cast system prosper, because it was good for both. Now the system has been installed, it has seeped to all classes without the requirement of an official Bhramin. I am sure Baburam understands this and wants to uproot the whole system so he does not want the King either. He choose Maoism since it was the best tool to rid the problem, too bad, more harm has been done.
