depends on what your interests are- nyc offers pretty much everything! yeah, jackson heights is an intersting place and seems to attract a lot of indians, nepalis, and tibetans. although there is also a strong japanese and korean community there. my advice is to pick up a copy of time out ny or the village voice upon arriving (preferrably the voice as it's a free publication and can be found in despensers on many street corners). st marks' place in the east village is interesting and there is some super good pizza at due amici (corner of 3rd ave and 12th street right up the block). central park is pretty incredible- as it is a HUGE park in the middle of nyc. st john's cathedral up by 116th or 126th and broadway is magnificent! and the newly opened rubin museum on the corner of 7th ave and 17th strret has an impressive collection of thangka paintings- mostly tibetan, but there are a few nepali ones as well. whoever made the nyc/ktm comparisons above does have some good, and certainly very funny, points! but yeah, try to pick up the village voice or time out when you get there. la, enjoy! maybe i'll see you there......
