Views from Nepal: The reactions to the current political development in Nepal among the masses in KTM can be generalized into a few categories: 1. The idealists - They want democracy to stay put at any cost. They'd rather live in a democratic political environment even if democracy in Nepal has been going downhill in the last couple of years. 2. The royalists - They love the King for this bold move. They believe this significant change in the political landscape will lead to a new era of peace in Nepal. 3. The apathetic - They are just pissed that their flashy mobile phones do not work. 4. The NepaliRamGurungs - They don't care who is in charge. If it means that they can go on earning their daily wages without the fear of bandhs and riots, they're all for it. After all, what good is democracy to a bus driver if it means he can write whatever he wants in a newspaper editorial but a 7-day bandh can starve him to death.
