NEW DELHI: If the Nepal king was looking for any support from India for his latest coup, he has failed to find it. India took a sharp stand against King Gyanendra's declaration of emergency and dissolution of the government. In a strongly worded statement, the MEA said on Tuesday: "These developments constitute a serious setback to the cause of democracy in Nepal and cannot but be a cause of grave concern to India." It is likely that the US and other world capitals will echo the Indian condemnation of his actions. The UK has already said it would review assistance to Nepal and called for the immediate restoration of democracy. The CCS meeting in the afternoon discussed the implications of the Nepal crisis in India. The Special Security Bureau, which monitors the Indo-Nepal border has been put on high alert in the border regions following Tuesday's royal coup.
