New Development.......... PABSON urges ANNISU-R to reconsider on shutting down private schools The Private and Boarding Schools Organisation of Nepal (PABSON) has appealed the Maoist-aligned All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) to reconsider its decision to shut down all private schools from the coming academic session next year (2062 B.S). Talking to newsmen Monday, PANSON president Umesh Shrestha said, ?The rebel students should have thought about the future of over 2 million students studying in private schools and over 150 thousand teaching staff. This decision is bound to have gave psychological effect on the students and the guardians.? ?We appeal them to reconsider on their decision, he said after a meeting of the Central Committee of the PABSON. Shrestha said that the government was sitting idle even when the private school operators and the guardians had been pressuring it for negotiations with the rebel students to resolve the problems. ?It is as if there is no government here,? he fumed. There are 8500 private schools in the country. The PABSON president said the government would have to take up an extra expense of about Rs.10 billion to make alternative provisions if the private schools were closed. Disclosing the decision of a meeting of the Central Committee meeting, ANNISU-R chairman Lethnath Neupane had declared at a press conference in Pyuthan Sunday that his organisation was against the privatisation of education and that it would launch a campaign to close down all the private schools around the country from the next academic session. After the meeting, the PABSON called upon the Maoist students not to obstruct the SLC sent-up exams starting from Thursday in eastern districts. The exams that were to start from January 26 were cancelled due to an indefinite closure by the ANNISU-R in Mechi and Koshi zones. nepalnews.com mbk Jan 31 05 ............................... i don't know what will happen to nepal's educational sector. why don't army kill that neupane bastard. if i ever heard the news of neupane's death i will give a grand party at my home.
