The Passport Fiasco
Another scandal is finally on the forefront, even though most of the media wallahs knew about it more than a year ago. We now have the 'Passport' scandal, or the same old kickback story, and with just another department in paradise.
Our PM Balen wasn't happy with the Passport Department, and he called the DG and the director to his office for some chiya guff-suff. After five hours of chiya drinking and paper flying nataks, the PM seems to have gotten tired of the same old excuses, and he decided to call our CIAA folks to take these two senior officials, Tirtha Raj Aryal and Sunil Kumar KC, in custody and investigate further.
According to our media reports, the representatives of the German companies here in Nepal and even German Embassy officials were present in the meeting as well. Almost a year ago, the Passport Department had signed contracts worth a record 800+ crores with two German companies, Muhlbauer and Veridos, to print our passports.
The PM then was our murderer Oli, and the Foreign Minister was our lovely Arzoo didi. Arzoo decided to pull some tricks or something to make sure the Congress-affiliated byapari got the 650+ crore contract while the UML-backed byapari had to be happy with a 155+ crore contract. Mili-juli it was, but since Arzoo didi had the Foreign portfolio, maybe she wanted more chiya kharcha from her own party folks!
A year later, it seems that these two German companies haven't even finished the data integration stuff yet, while we have less than 100,000 passports in the vault. So in a month, we will probably have zero passports, and folks will have to wait a while to renew or replace or get a new one!
The CIAA has been investigating 15 government employees for the past two weeks. The big hakims are now in custody, finally, but we are hoping that Arzoo Didi and KP Ba Ba Black Sheep will have some answers when the CIAA come knocking on their doors. Oli is still around, but Arzoo didi might need to answer the queries via email or on video call, maybe because she is enjoying some fish balls and noodle soup in the Far East!
While Harkey keeps on obstructing the Parliament, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is busy trying to figure out how to slowly resolve the mess brought in by the previous governments. Even our total debt did increase from US$ 4 billion to almost US$ 20 billion in the past two decades and our children and their children will be paying the interests and the principal unless we fix our economy by then.
Our senior hakims are all scared. Whenever the PMO calls them for a chiya guff session, they will be shitting their pants and will probably tell their spouses that they might not come for dinner and will be spending a few weeks in custody and either go to jail or get a clean chit later on.
The past two decades of mili-juli loot is slowly being uncovered not by the media but by the PMO, and in a year or two, we could have like tens of thousands of the jholeys, old school netas, hakims and shady byaparis in our prisons if the CIAA does it right and have all the evidence necessary so that our courts cannot look the other way when it matters.
