ujl,
I do not think somebody was pointing a gun at Araju Deuba's head while asking her questions that she has to reply in Hindi. If she had replied in English, looks like there was a slim chance that the interviewer would have gotten offended or felt insulted. Look at how Indians from different territories interact. A small trivia, a south Indian actor might play a hindi movie, but for interviews he will talk in English, though he may understand the language and may speak it with his southern accent.
I feel English would have made Mrs. Deuba more global than just being tied to certain local community, and since she has the mike, she could have used that platform/ opportunity, but well, what can I say. I am a nobody, again.

Sanak,
I adore all languages, buddy, not only Hindi. I am Nepalese by heart and soul, then why would be me speaking in Hindi makes me so different. BTW through my Indian friends, I learnt way earlier Indians do not think in the way general Nepalese feel they do about them. It is a bubble larger portion of Nepalese like to live in with. Such a sad case.
