I have met Bhutanese Nepalese. They are culturally more Nepali than most Nepalese in Nepal. I have a lots of respect for them. Why do we at times try to belittle other Nepalese, sometimes categorizing them as DV winners, sometimes because they work in Qatar or Malaysia and sometimes because they came to US as refugees from camps of Jhapa? Is it because we lack empathy? I cannot imagine what Lhotsampas have gone through. Uprooted from a country they called home for generations, went to the mother country where they did not get any respect and now even in the US where everyone goes ahead because of their capabilities, they are made fun of by their own cultural sublings.
