kalankisthan, you have a point. but there is a big BUT: iranians were not muslims then.. they had their own religion (which was closedly linked to hinduism). there was a big interaction between persia and the indian subcontinent.... linguistic similarities prove that. with the change in religion, most of their traditions and cultural values have changed. but look at us, we were hindus throughout our history (it's the oldest religion). when hindus were attacked, they fought (either killed or got killed) or ran away. unlike most of other socities then, our purkhas didnt surrender the religion.... and thus, the tradition continued on , though i wont deny that some of them faded away and new chalans got into way.... however, family values havent changed. so, i do still believe that amba and ambalika had a lot of reluctance on going to bed with their jethaju. sum up it all: almost all the other people have changed their tradition but we havent... and, i wont take your argument of, iranian social being of 2000 yrs back as a good point enough in this context.
