if you are looking for less than 1400 for a single bed.. you are out of luck tbh.. your best bet would be around annandale, springfield areas. From annandale the commute is not that bad. anything up from there you are looking at 1 hr commute each way.

i drive from annandale to mclean daily and it's like 20-30 mins normally.
