till the day you take oath, you are a green card holder. So, it will be better to apply for your parents after you are a citizen. For travelling, it will not be a problem. Becareful not to miss scheduled interview because it might take you more time to reschedule interview otherwise there is no issue. You can update your form at the time of interview.
