A 24-year-old Nepali man appeared in court this morning for his alleged involvement in a US$792,000 robbery last week.

Limbu Binod has been charged with one count of robbery and possession of a dangerous drug, and is accused of stealing two backpacks filled with money from two jewelry store clerks in Hung Hom with three other suspects on Friday, September 21.

Both clerks were sent to hospital, and the two backpacks contained US$740,000 in cash, HK$360,000 (US$46,000) in cash, and a check for US$54,613 (US$6,990).

Headline Daily reported yesterday that the suspect was arrested at 9:30pm on Battery Street in Yau Ma Tei on Friday, hours after the robbery took place. At the time of the arrest, police found him in possesson of a small amount of cannabis.

No plea was entered today at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court, and the case has been adjourned until October 28, Headline Daily reports.

Police are still on the hunt for the three other suspects.
