Hi,

I am in H1b and my wife is in H4. I do have insurance from my employer but my wife does not have as my employer denied to add her in the group policy. Now my wife is 6 weeks pregnant and that was not planned.

I would really appreciate if you guys can give some suggestions on getting insurance for already pregnant

There are some pro-pregnancy organizations, - pro-life organizations, can you google them in your area and go to them, they usually help you with early prenatal care and also suggest insurance options. Make sure you have insurance soon else it is going to be super expensive. SOme counties also provide insurance for lower income families for free. try them.

Man how long you have been in USA? You should be careful in gold digging.

It is really pain in neck not having a insurance and you have pregnant spouse. When you got insurance you should put her name in the very beginning. After conceive no insurance is allowed. त्यो लाई काटेर फालिदेउ.
kidding.

Readers: Learn lesson from this thread. If you have insurance, add your spouse and then try to make baby otherwise you have to go through hell or do not forget to use contraceptive.

Hope, SeetalB's advise will work.

Are you still working and making good money? Please find insurance. ..google it and call.

if you are not working then go to county health office and apply for medicare or something. I know so many of green card holder do that and you may just go and ask her. I think they don't ask you for status, i believe ...

Good luck ..

I dont know which state you are staying. If you live in a state where there is kaiser permanente then i would suggest you to apply her for kaiser. They usually accepts no matter what. And their prices are very reasonable compare to others. So dont try to take your chances looking for these organizations because everything now in US has hard and fast rules.

Syanjali, didn't you read his thread? He applied for her insurance but his company rejected it. Besides the pregnancy wasn't plan. The only thing he could've done was to get a private insurance for the spouse.

I would suggest to visit the local planned parenthood office. They will not only go over health issues but might also suggest insurance coverage etc.

Try for any insurance. If they send you the letter saying its preexisting condition then apply for state insurance with that letter that you have been denied because they don't consider pregnancy as preexisting condition depending on the state where you live but your premium might be higher since it will be in high risk pool.I bet if you start applying from now you will get something soon.Hope that helps.

Hello Umich,

I think it is easier to get Medicaid in Michigan (I assume you are in Michigan). Actually we was in similar situation and applied for Medicaid, but got denied. We reapplied then got approved and it paid all the pending bills too. We didn't pay a single penny for the entire pregnancy for pregnancy related medical bills. Hope this helps.

Sorry for misunderstanding: Is it because  of company do not provide insurance to spouse or because it was not the time for  the company add spouses? Which is not clear? My understanding is company denied but this guy could not think of coming hurdle first, that is my question is bothered me.

As some of us suggested, privet insurance and should have thought as he did not get the insurance from the company.  Just could not get clear idea and did not gave the correct/ appropriate answer. After conceive no insurance is granted most cases.

SIS: What do you say? You should have crossed your leg until you get insurance?

Hi Sparty, Thank you very much for your suggestion. I am just wondering if you were also in H1b during the situation.

Really appreciate your help.

If you re in H1B then it might be difficult to get medicate  as u need to prove that u do not have sufficient income , which being in H1 its not possible. but you can still try ur luck.
