We would like to offer our sincere apologies for any offence caused by
the quote that makes reference to Nepal on the back of the Capri-Sun orange
juice drink pouch. We recognise that this has caused some distress and
would like to assure you that we have taken immediate steps to replace
the quote on these packs.

The quote was designed to be a light-hearted fact and was taken from a
recognised and trusted source on the subject of oranges. It was our
understanding that people in Nepal cut oranges into squares to eat them
rather than peeling them. However, the insinuation made by the quote
about how people in Nepal may eat oranges is incorrect, and it was an error
of judgment to include it on our packaging.

That is not at all offensive to me at all. I and many people in Nepal do eat some citrus varieties without peeling. I still do that sometimes. Mandarin (नेपालको common सुन्तला) peel is rather pungent, but many other citrus peels are milder and very palatable when eaten along with the fruit. Also, I almost never peel (since I was in Nepal) potatoes, sweet potatoes, cucumber, asian pear (नासपाती), apple, carrots, eggplant (भाण्टा) and sometimes even ate mango with peel and young watermelon with peel too.

Also,
1. Some ethnic groups in the hills and mountains eat cattle (cow, ox, bull, calf, steer, heifer, anything) since generations. As slaughter is prohibited, they only eat those which die due to disease or accidents.

2. Most ethnic groups in many regions of Nepal eat pigeons. However, a friend of mine was evicted from his डेरा in बाङ्गेमुडा when the landlord found out he ate परेवा captured from their क:सी.

3. Few ethnic groups in तराइ eat snails (special type called घोंगी), rats (very similar to US roof rats), and although illegal, eat dead wildlife flesh (they even dig out rhinos, elephants disposed by national park), and they still poach monitors, dolphins and many other wildlife.

4. स्याल को रक्सि is believed to treat severe chronic diseases, गहुँत ग्रहण गर्ने देखि स्वमुत्र पान गर्ने पनि छन् नेपालमा।

TL,Dr, Nepal is huge and way beyond major metro cities.

Sorry, if I offended anyone and I agree "Buddha was born in Nepal"
