I had used Muncha money transfer few years back and i found very reliable and convenient. When i try to login today, my old user and password did not work and I had to create a new account. but while i am creating account They ask to enter SSN and upload DL or any gov doc. beside that when i try to add my bank info, instead of routing number and acc number, they asked to enter my bank user and password. I am kind of hagitate to give my bank user/pass.
Have you guys using Munch to send money to back home?
Is it Okay to give all bank info? Please share your experiences.

Thanks,
KJ

I wouldn't do that. I have never use that service but giving SSN , bank user name and password is highly risky. Dont do that. Use western union instead.

I stopped using Muncha ever since it asked for my SSN. I have friends using Muncha and they don't mind sharing their SSNs but giving them bank username and password doesn't seem right.

I have been using MoneyGram service and the cost is reasonable as well.

If they really asked u for bank username and password, u can report to FEDs. Thats against the LAW.

Asking bank username and password is illegal. But they can ask you to type username and password from bank web form which should be fine. I always use 2FA authentication for peace of mind

I see a disconnect in what the thread creator is trying to convey and what rest of the folks understood. Let put it in simple terms, in current version of Muncha, if you want to send money then you have to link your bank account to their system, in order to do that you have to login in your account and your money will be withdrawn accordingly. I don't understand the whole point of giving bank account user name and password. I have used it before few times and I din't have any problem. If you are hesitant then use Money gram or other available services as recommended. And for the SSN part, it depends how much you want to send, 1 grand to 1.5 should be problem, but if you sending more than that, then even they will ask you for your SSN and not only that, they will even ask you for your source of income.

OP: Is this what you mean? I think all of us are thinking differently here.
Muncha/Thamel are making a secured connection with your online banking and they are not asking for your details. They want you to log in to your bank account thru this secured connection and you can send directly without all those routing no. and account info.

These sites are always good if you are sending money above 2500 , as they don't have a transaction fee over 2500.

I guess all of us are clear with this.

Happy Tihar all. :)

Sorry for late response. Lumps and Coolbuddy are right. They ask to enter user name and password to make secure connection to the bank account. Will they save our bank login info in their server? I don't now how reliable is there security system.
