धेरै वर्ष पहिले, IPL सुरु हुन भन्दा पहिले , ICL हो कि यस्तै नाम भाको लीग थियो (इन्डियन किरकेट लिग) भन्ने | जी TV को स्पोन्सोरमा सुरु भाथ्यो | त्यसमा नव्जोत सिंग सिद्दु पनि आबद्द थिए | पहिले २ टा सिजनमा ICL वाज अ बिग हिट | धेरै पैसा कमायो | खेलाडी हरु पनि खुशी सबै खुशी | अनि अहिलेको IPL टिम वोनरहरु (धनि मानी हरु छन् नि , के जाति माल्या, अम्बानी को को हुन्, उनीहरुलाई लोभ लगेर, they started lobbing BCCI. अनि उनीहरुले IPL खेलाउन सुरु गरे | तर ICL अझै पनि लोकप्रिय थियो, अनि BCCI ले उर्दी जारी गर्यो " जस जसले ICL खेल्छ त्यो कहिल्यै पनि इंडियाको नेसनल टिम बाट खेल्न पाउने छैन |" त्यसपछि ICL मा खेलाडी हरुको खडेरी पर्न थाल्यो | त्यतिले नपुगेर (ICC मा BCCI को कत्ति को पकड छ मैले भन्नु पर्दैन ) BCCI को सिफारिसमा ICC ले अर्को सुचना निकाल्यो | "ICL मा खेल्नेले कुनै पनि ICC अन्तर्गतको अन्तररास्ट्रीय खेलमा भाग लिन नपाउने |"
त्यसपछि ICL सुक्यो अनि IPL अहिले सम्मकै सबैभन्दा ठुलो पैसाको खेल भयो | आफ्नो स्वाभिमान नबेच्ने सिद्दु र कपिल देव ले त्यो कारण ले BCCI र ICC संग अबद्दाता नराखेका हुन् |

हाम्रो (SLC भन्दा अगाडीको) टेस्ट दिनी बेला ताका इंडिया-पाकिस्तानको टेस्ट म्याच थियो | तिनटा टेस्ट = १५ दिन सम्म किरकेट मात्रै हेरेर बसेको थिएँ | प्रत्येक बल हेरेको थिए | तेती धेरै किरकेट हेर्ने मान्छे हुँ तर आज सम्म IPL को एउटा पनि म्याच हेरेको छैन | (सन् २०१० मा पल कलिंगउडलाई माईक हस्सीले क्याच गरेको चै हेरेको छु, आई डोन्ट रिमेम्बर व्हिच टिम दे प्लेड फ्रम दो )

I didn't know about ICL so thanks for letting us know about the brief history. Very interesting. It's a good thing you have followed cricket so closely, and your last para sounds like you are really proud of doing so; not sure what's to be so proud about, but I digress. For us we are like Mexican team looking over our neighbor's MLB game- I have no complaints nor praises for it. Similar to the professional (ans some semi-pro) soccer league in Nepal, I think we need pro cricket league as well, it's about time.

Yes you understood correctly. I feel proud in boycotting the IPL. Its not because its mostly for the money. Even it was ICL or whatever "CL" it would have been for money too. I boycott it because IPL lacks the originality. IPL took over ICL in ill-manner. The jealousy of ICL making money was the reason IPL was born. The mother of IPL is dark jealousy and greed and nothing more. So ya, I boycott IPL.
हुन त कागलाई बेल पाक्यो हर्ष न बिस्मात | Even though if ICL was still alive, I would have cared less probably, but I just hate IPL for the reason how it was started.

ICL would have never succeeded because it was under BCCI's shadow. But it was fun watching Lahore Baadshah's vs Rest's games.
Anyways, I am indifferent towards IPL as is said above. It's like a cock fight where you can only keep 4 international players and usually those players beat the shit out of other below par players. And the owners and BCCI earn the money.
But, it is cricket after all and I watch it as a cricket fan. I watch it so that I can see my favorite players playing and also to see retired players. And it is actually fun to see a mix of players, like say when Watson and Dravid were on the crease. That's like a fantasy game.
But I hate every second when Shahrukh Khan and others start dancing around like in a circus.

I read somewhere all IPL matches are fixed. Its just drama on stage.
