Hello Guys,
I am currently doing my masters. I have a independent topic where I can select anything related. So, I was thing of doing structural analysis on existing mega structures. The idea sounds very interesting. I was thinking maybe I can do a structural analysis on Eiffel tower but I don't know if its possible with the 2 months I got. ANy kind of feedback and suggestions will be appreciated. Btw, I just know how to use SAP2000 and was thinking of using it for the project.

What loads are you thinking to use on your analysis? just gravity loads or including wind and seismic too. If I were you I wouldn't go for that big structure. Since you have only two months my suggestion is pick a 5-7 story building and do a 3d modeling on SAP using all the loads. I am assuming this is 3 credit hour course, and this is more than enough if you include seismic and wind analysis.

Thanks Imperfect harmony,

I saw a poster where 2-D analysis was done using just gravity and wind load. So, I was thinking I could do something similar but for 3-d. Anyway, being just for 3 credits, it makes sense to go for a smaller structure.
