My current handwritten passport is going to expire in March, 2013. If I apply for MRP pasport in Nepal embassy in US, do I need to do anything regarding US visa stamp in handwritten PP? How visa information will be transfered in new MRP passport?

your experience please.

Thank you

Sumee

Thank you Nepaliko_chhoro.

Few more questions:

Does Nepal Embassy in US provide me both passports?

Can I apply MRP anytime now or there is specific duration before expiration date in my handwritten passport ?

You can apply for MRP any time you like.
The processing time is around 2-3 months. You need to ship or drop your old passport (and/or Nepalese citizenship card) and application along with fee to Nepalese Embassy. They will send it back to nepal for new passport and will ship back to you once they receive.

You will get both passports back.
No information regarding existing visas will be transferred from one passport to another. Hence you need to carry both passport if you are travelling out of US.

If you are from Tri-state (new york/new jersey/connecticut), you can apply for MRP at Nepal Consulate in new york. For all other states I guess Embassy at DC is the only option.

As far as I remember, your old passport has expire within six months, before you can apply for a new passport. I am not sure if the rule applies to MRP or not. So, you better check with Nepalese Embassy at DC before sending your passport for renewal.

I don't know how it is abroad, but here in Nepal, you can acquire MRP anytime.  Your old passport does not need to be close to expiration.

I renewed my passport  a year before it expired from Nepali Embassy in Tokyo, six years back. The passport was hand written and not MRP.

In US too, you can apply for replacement of handwritten one with MRP any time. Whateva posted in embassy site was for old hand written passport renewal.
