 Transit visa at Abu Dhabi

I have a 18 hour transit at Abu Dhabi during my travel from the US to KTM. I am planning on applying for a transit visa. Has anyone here applied for a transit visa at Abu Dhabi? Do I need to apply for a visa from here or do I get one  at the airport? Please share any information about it.
