Xactly, call the university you are transferring to. The uni I went to didn't even take any credits from the community college I went to; but this doesn't apply to all schools. This is NOT a generic question; Just pick up the phone and ask the question or ask for appointment.

First of, I think  you are not clear about what you are doing? Let me ask you a few questions first?

1. How long have you been doing your undergrad for?
2. Why would you take so many classes at comm. College and just 1 or 2 at university?
3. After completing this semester are you transfering in same state or to a different state university?

After carefully analyzing your situation, you should have been doing your undergrad for at least 2 years now. As far as i know, if the university is your primary school (by this I mean the school that issued your current I20) you should take majority of classes at this location. I wonder why the int'l advisor didn't say anything about it. Let me recall an instance of this. A nepali brother I know goes to Northlake in Irving. Last semester he took 3 classes at Richland and 1 Class at Northlake--Northlake issued him I 20 (Please note DCCCD has about 7 various colleges and they share same network, same administration and same everything). Upon the fact that he took 3 classes at different location and only 1 at the primary school, he was summoned to int'l office and asked either to have a new I20 from Richland or add a classes to be taken at Northlake. He chose the latter. So,if a different college of same district has problem with it, you are talking apples and oranges here--a comm college and an university which are not related at all.

Also, Is this 1.8  your cumulative GPA from all classes at the university. And I wonder if it's possible. Did you get all c's or d's at the university. You said you are still taking core classes at comm. college, I don't think it's time for you to transfer to university yet. The best time to transfer is about after 30-40 cr hour classes. After this you can take 4 classes at University and 2 classes at comm college, totalling about 18 hrs a semester (and remember all you need from comm college classes is a "c" , since it will be shown on transcript as "transferred")--however, this may vary from states to states.

As far as your counting your GPA goes, I think it varies from state to state too. In texas, they show your comm college classes as transfered and only count your university GPA. However, since you are saying you are still transfering from that school to a new school. In such case, the new school (where you are transfering to) counts all the gpas from your comm college and the university you are currently enrolling at. In Louisian however, they count all the gps what so ever. Unlike in TX universities where they show concurrent classes at other schools as "transfered", the LA schools count both concurrent classes and the university classes to evaluate your gpa.

I hope this helps and let's hope that I didn't confuse you
