logmein.com

I researched it very well a few years ago and I am still using it. I recommend the free version. Just the free version is sufficient if you don't need to stream remote computer's sound and print your computer's documents in that remote computer. For faster speed I use it in black-and-white mode, but it's your choice.

you can have full access through log me in free. Install log me in in the computer you want to use ie the one in Nepal, give em a user name and password that you registered in log me in. Once installed its a piece of cake, can do installs and everything.

Thanks Guys, As said earlier, I tried logmein and it worked like a charm. I could access the computer and its files. I did not need to transfer files, so I havent tried it yet.

The reason to access it was, my brother doesnt know much about computers and he was complaining about the laptop hanging up after a while. I tried to see if he had installed any new programs, ad ons or whatever. Found out that he had done nothing. Its a fresh laptop with like just about10 additional programs installed - firefox, chrome, ccleaner, avg, some wireless router drivers and some ad ons like flash player, media player, real player and those basic ones. It got hanged while i was accessing as well... Its sony vaio bought 11 months ago, and used may be like less than 1000 hours altogether. Any suggestions what could be the problem? My brother said that it hangs up more when it is connected to AC power but it did when on battery as well. I think it is not the overheating problem coz when that happens, the computer shuts down, not hanging.

Also, I do not know if this kind of problem is covered by manufacture warranty,  and if there is sony store in Nepal or not

overheating does cause computer to perform slower, also dust might be the issue.
As for the warrenty, this kind of issue is covered by the manufacture but I guess for 12 months only . You might be able to purchase extended warrenty if you act fast.

Overheating caused by dust might be the issue. I had one of my desktops having the same issue, it hanged after running for some time. I cleaned all the hardware parts and it's been working since then. Laptops are not that easy to clean, so better consider manufacturer warranty.

The next question would be to know if there is authorized sony agent to look into issues for laptop bought overseas. I have the receipt here with me. I can register it in sony database and send the copy of receipt to them or my brother.
