Must read for everyone.

 He was living his dream.......................

City whizkid 'was completely normal' just hours before jumping to his death from roof-top restaurant

The last friend to see the banker who leapt to his death from a restaurant terrace, has revealed today how he appeared 'completely normal' just hours before the tragedy.

David Langer was with stockbroker Anjool Malde on the night before he plunged to his death on Sunday afternoon dressed in his favourite Hugo Boss suit and clutching a glass of champagne.

Mr Langer, a fellow Oxford graduate, said his events organiser friend, who worked at Deutsche Bank, seemed to be in good spirits and was his normal self.

Mr Langer said: 'He seemed completely normal. He didn't say anything about problems at work or anything else that may have been getting him down.

'We went to a party together that night and then we went back to his. I saw him on Sunday morning when I left.'

He said it was a 'total shock' to find out what happened to his friend later that afternoon.

After leaving Mr Malde's flat near Liverpool Street station, the stockbroker went to lavish restaurant Coq d'Argent near the Bank of England. He paid in cash for a glass of champagne.

Still holding the glass, he walked to the roof terrace, climbed over a railing and jumped 80ft to his death.

Friends of Mr Malde, many of whom had been invited to two parties to celebrate his birthday today, were mystified why a man with so much to live for should take his own life.

But it emerged that two days before the tragedy, he had been told to 'leave his desk' at Deutsche Bank, where he had worked for thepast four years - the first setback he had ever suffered.

Although he had been neither sacked nor suspended, he was said to be at the centre of an inquiry relating to an IT issue thought to be linked to the use of his work computer.

It was also claimed that the bank barred access to his Bloomberg account which would have left him unable to monitor the markets as he worked on hedge funds.

'Having access to Bloomberg denied would have left him in difficulty as a trader - he would have been left like a man trying to be a racing driver but without a car,' said one City insider.

A friend added: 'He may have gone away and brooded over the problem and taken things far too much to heart. That is the only explanation for this tragedy.'

A City of London Police spokesman said Mr Malde's mother Naina, an arts teacher, and father Bharat, a psychologist - were in 'deep shock' at the loss of their only son.

The couple live in a modest three-bedroom semi in Yarm, near Stockton-on-Tees. They were believed to have identified his body beforean inquest was opened and adjourned yesterday.

In a statement they said: 'We are absolutely devastated. Equally we are so touched by the warm words from his many, many friends that alluded both to his tremendous talent and positive, lively spirit.
He was an inspiration to so many. Style meant everything to him and that's how he chose his exit.'

Anjool 'Jools' Malde went to St Peter's College Oxford, where he studied geography and worked on two university newspapers and student radio.

At the same time he reviewed music and other arts for the BBC and was photographed with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell after interviewing her for BBC local radio when she visited the Oxford Union.

When he graduated aged just 20, he revealed he had paid off his student loan by working during holiday periods.

Much of his early financial success came from internships at the City solicitors Slaughter-and May and the finance house ABN Amro. Such internships can earn students more than £600 a week.

Shortly before joining the bank he came second in the UK Graduate of the Year awards and told a newspaper: 'I have learnt thatthe sky is the limit since going to university - and that with successful time management skills, one can achieve so much more.'

Tipped to become the next big British-Asian entrepreneur, he was co-founder of the AlphaParties firm which organises social events in Mayfair and Kensington for young professionals, students and
financial interns.

On his personal website he described his work status-as 'Living the Dream'.

A friend said Mr Malde would have been 'mortified' at the idea of being in any trouble at work and would find setbacks hard to deal with as he was not used to them.

'He'd always been a high-flyer and nothing had ever got in his way. He was also very concerned with keeping up appearances and how he seemed to other people.

'He was a good guy who didn't drink too much, didn't take drugs but worked damned hard and probably pushed himself too hard.

'He never slept and lived on Red Bull.'

On hearing of his death, dozens of his friends have posted messages of sympathy on his Facebook page. He is seen here with friends 'Irra K' (left) and Sheena Amin

Intriguingly, Mr Malde posted a message on Twitter last month at 5.01am which read: 'UK unemployment rate for 18-24 yr olds is 16.6 percent and rising. Yikes.'

Other messages on his personal website revealed he had recently bought a £300,000 penthouse in Mijas on the Costa del Sol.

Also on Twitter, he wrote of his grief over the death of Michael Jackson, which he said had made him cry for the first time in a decade.

Friends said that although he did not have a current girlfriend, he could always be seen with a pretty woman on his arm.

He recently staged a 25th birthday party for the Russian model Irra K, who struck up a friendship with him at Oxford University.

By yesterday more than 300 friends had posted messages on a Facebook page called 'In Memory of Anjool "Jools" Malde'

One friend, Sandy Kaur Johal, wrote: 'I am deeply saddened, shocked and hurt. I feel so privileged to have known him for the time I did and to have had him as a good friend in my life. He was always so

dedicated, hard-working, ambitious and lived his life following his dreams and aspirations.'

One message read: 'Sunday was the worst trade you've ever done. You will be sorely missed.'
A spokesman for Deutsche Bank said: 'We are deeply saddened by our colleague's death, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time.'

Very interesting. In many cases, what shows on the outside is not necessarily what one's thinking on the inside. From what I've read, this guy seems to be all about his public image and cared a little too much about what others thought of him. Hence, it's obvious that he would be hesitant in sharing the real problems in his life with anyone other than himself.

More to this...

Posing as one of his clients, Oxford graduate Anjool 'Jools' Malde left a silly message on a financial website. It read: 'I am hot, I am hot.'

Investigators think this was probably a reference to his client being on a successful investment run.

Mr Malde's client, who works for Brevan Howard, a leading hedge fund management firm, did not see the funny side and made a formal complaint to the company which runs the discussion forum.

The resulting investigation suggested that Mr Malde had impersonated the client from his office computer at Deutsche Bank.

This prompted the bank's bosses to send Mr Malde home on Friday pending a full investigation.

Two days later, as he prepared to celebrate his 25th birthday, Mr Malde jumped from an eighth-floor restaurant near the Bank of England.

This kid was never taught by his peers that life is hard and it's not easy as it seems! If that's what he took his own life on, then its a real sad thing! What a waste of such a potential!!

I work for stockbrokers in City just opposite to Deutsche bank where this guy used to work. The amount some of the stockbrokers earn in one month in my firm is sometimes more than what I earn in five years (excluding the expenses paid by the firm for their outrageous night outs, flights, accommodation claimed to be spent with the clients). I remember the ghastly faces of my colleagues last year in October when almost 10 people were made redundant in one day because of financial meltdown.
Obviously when all of it is gone in a second apart from not having saved for the future, the fear of not being able to maintain the lifestyle does make these people take such decisions.
The lesson is not to live life of excess and always think about future.

Welcome to the financial world where your future is as uncertain as the markets...Just as brokers were plunging to death during the Market Crash of 1929 (and anytime after that whenever the markets were in the doldrums), this scenario is nothing new.  Just last year, trading floors in NYC and Chicago prolly saw the same fate arise for a few of its traders and brokers...Its just that such news are never taken public unlike the above case.  Similarly, who hears about the yearly suicide cases at NYU or Cornell anymore?  It's become a natural occurance just like a broker's suicide on Wall Street...Nada interesting!!

Thank you to everyone for their replies.

I think it is not just about an individual working in a certain industry. It's about life in general, life of  young and ambitious people. Life can surprise us with unexpected ups and downs. It is up to us how we take these surprises.I don’t know about others but I have certainly learned something from this tragic
story. I speak from experience.
