I am thinking to transfer to chicago but I don't know how the place is like..I am a career oriented gal but fun loving at the same time.

In short, I want to move to the place where I can focus on my studies, work as well as have my nepali people to hang, dance, sing, enjoy and share fun moments...Can someone tell me if chicago is such a place...or is there any other places that's lively, and has nepalipan too???

@ Winter Chicago is like North Pole or Antarctica.

@ Summer Chicago is said to be Heaven.

Living: Very Expensive.......Living in suburbs cost at least 800 dollar per 1 Bed Room Apt.(w/o utilities).
If you are student sharing apartment with 3-4 others only make sense.

College Tution: Even good Community College has tuition fees comparable to universities in other state.

Public Transportation: Very Good ....

Nepalipan:
Lots of Nepalese- http://www.cnpariwar.org/
Lots of Nepalese family settled permanently.
Few Nepalese Restaurants.

Career:
Lots of Fortune 500 companies and lots of corporate companies in the area.
So during good economic times(not now) with good degree, lots of jobs.

Can someone tell me if chicago is such a place...or is there any other places that's exotic and lively, and has nepalipan too???
->Answer is DFW Texas(Irving, Dallas and surroundings)

I finished my college from Chicago. Yes you can transfer to chicago and find everything you need. Winter is brutal. Summer is fantastic. As long as you can afford your college living should be adjustable. So i think moving to Chicago sud depend on how much is college gonna cost you!!!since there are lotta nepali students now you should not have a problem sharing apts. you dont need a car thru out your living in chicago unless you lookin for some luxury and if u can aford it...If not Chicago make your second option Dallas....

Reasons not moving to Chicago

Do hell with Chicago... crapy place for winter... I would never go back to chicago for
a> bad bad bad weather
b>expensive
c>no parking spot
d> the worst streets and freeways I have ever seen in 12 years of my life in US
e>crime rate is soaring
f>Nepali community....HeHe where is a Nepali community in Chicago..

But very good clubs... party life is good... summer is fantastic...

You make a choice

Hello! transfer to HOUSTON, TX. A good place to study plus you could find yourself living in fourth largest city with least expenses.
